The short answer
The platform's battery passport field list has 92 data points, compiled from Annex XIII of the Battery Regulation. Which ones you fill in depends on the battery type: for a stationary battery energy storage system 88 apply, of which 59 are required from February 2027. The table to download gives every data point's Chinese and English name and who can read it.
What the regulation says
What the passport contains
“The battery passport shall contain information relating to the battery model and information specific to the individual battery, including resulting from the use of that battery, as set out in Annex XIII.”
Quotes are from the English text of the regulations; the text published in the Official Journal prevails.
How many data points each battery type fills in
The numbers below come from the platform's field list and change when it does. “Applicable” is the number of data points that the battery type uses; “required from Feb 2027” is how many must be filled in from 18 February 2027.
| Battery type | Applicable | Required from Feb 2027 | Conditional | Not yet required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electric vehicle battery | 87 | 59 | 2 | 14 |
| LMT battery | 88 | 59 | 5 | 14 |
| Stationary battery energy storage system | 88 | 59 | 5 | 14 |
| Other industrial battery | 83 | 50 | 9 | 14 |
| Industrial battery without a BMS | 76 | 53 | 3 | 14 |
“Conditional” means required only when a condition is met, for example a commercial warranty is offered. “Not yet required” means not asked for from 18 February 2027 for now, for example carbon footprint, due diligence and recycled content, which wait for their own dates or for EU delegated and implementing acts to apply; the platform marks them “not required in February 2027”.
Common mistakes
Must every data point be filled in by February 2027?
No. Carbon footprint, due diligence and a few more fill in only once the relevant rules apply, and the platform marks them “not required in February 2027”. The table above gives the number required from February 2027 for each battery type.
Is there a common EU list of battery passport data points?
There is guidance from the European Commission, but it is not law. On 19 October 2026 the Commission published version 3.2 of its guidance on battery passport data points, listing each data point by battery category. The platform's field list is compiled from Annex XIII and the BatteryPass data attribute longlist v2.0, and notes each field’s data point number in that guidance (except those it does not list separately). The guidance helps to read the regulation; where they differ, the text of the Battery Regulation is what counts. When the EU sets new rules we update the list and say so in the guides.
Do aluminium and copper count as critical raw materials?
No. Data point 15 of version 3.2 of the Commission's guidance reads “critical raw materials” as the list in Annex X(1) of the Battery Regulation: cobalt, natural graphite, lithium and nickel, and the compounds based on them that are needed to make the active materials of batteries. List those present at more than 0.1 % of the weight of the whole battery. Synthetic graphite in the anode is not natural graphite.
Is one value enough for temperature and state of charge?
Version 3.2 of the Commission's guidance asks for data points 70 (temperature information) and 71 (state of charge) as histograms: how much time was spent in each range. The current passport data model holds one value per field, so the platform keeps your histogram data and writes it into the passport once the data model is updated.
Can anyone read all the data in a passport?
No. The data is public or restricted, and the restricted part is split by who may read it. How the three kinds of information are split
