EU importers and authorised representatives: responsible for the battery, so you should get the data
If you place batteries on the EU market you are the economic operator: you must make sure the information in the battery passport is accurate, complete and up to date, and you may authorise someone else in writing to act for you. If your Chinese supplier builds passports on PassBridge, you can get the passports of your own batteries and download the registration files.
What you are responsible for
The passport content
Accurate, complete and up to date. You may give written authorisation to another operator to act on your behalf.
Unique identifier and QR code
The QR code links to the unique identifier that you, as the operator placing the battery on the market, attribute to it.
EU registration
Once the EU registry opens for batteries, the economic operator that places the battery on the market registers the passport ID.
What you can do on PassBridge
Your Chinese supplier can give you a collaboration account: free, and it does not use up the supplier’s member seats.
View passports
See the models and batteries that belong to you, and the passport details. You never see other economic operators’ data.
Download registration files, import results
Download the registration files grouped for you; import the registry results once the registry is open.
Keep your verification record
Maintain your organisation’s verification record for the EU registry (date, validity, seal certificate).
Raise a question about a battery
Write it down and the supplier’s compliance lead is notified.
What a collaboration account cannot do
Mostly read-only
It cannot change passport data, publish, place on the market or delete, and it cannot see the supplier’s source documents, bills of materials, billing or member management.
How to start
See what a passport looks like
Open the demo passport on your phone: the public view, and what stays restricted.
Get invited
Once the platform opens to suppliers, your Chinese supplier can invite you to a collaboration account by e-mail.
No supplier on PassBridge yet?
Request a demo, and tell your supplier about the free pilot. They set up the passports; you receive yours.
Questions to ask your Chinese supplier
The answers show how well prepared your supplier is:
- Which category is your battery, does it need a battery passport, and which article says so?
- Which passport data is complete, and which waits for cell or material suppliers?
- Who places the battery on the market as economic operator? Do I need to authorise you?
- How are the QR code and the unique identifier assigned? Who owns the identifier domain?
- When can I have the files I need for EU registration?

A collaboration account comes from your supplier’s invitation once the platform is open to them. If you want to see the platform first, request a demo.
Already working with a Chinese supplier? They can apply for the free pilot too.
